FSSAI - Food Safety and Standards Authority of India

FSS Act, 2006 के तहत बने Food Safety and Standards (FSS) Regulations

FSSAI भारत का खाद्य नियामक है। उसके विनियम बताते हैं कि कौन-से एडिटिव इस्तेमाल हो सकते हैं और कितने, लेबल पर क्या छपना ज़रूरी है, ट्रांस फ़ैट की हद क्या है, और कौन-सी चीज़ों पर पूरी तरह रोक है। भारत में बिकने वाले हर पैकेटबंद खाने के लिए ये नियम क़ानून हैं।

PFA - Prevention of Food Adulteration Act, 1954

भारत का पुराना खाद्य क़ानून, जो अब FSS Act, 2006 में समा गया है

FSSAI बनने से पहले मिलावटी खाने के ख़िलाफ़ भारत का मुख्य हथियार PFA Act था। मिलावट की चीज़ों की उसकी लिस्टें आज भी उन पुरानी चालाकियों को पकड़ने में काम आती हैं जो किसी आज के लेबल पर कभी नहीं दिखनी चाहिए। इस स्रोत से बना कोई भी नियम लाल होता, क्योंकि खाने में उनकी जगह ही नहीं है। ऐसा कोई नियम हमने अब तक प्रकाशित नहीं किया, इसलिए आज इससे कोई निशान नहीं लगता।

PFA के दौर की मिलावट लिस्टें - बिना छूट वाले रंग, जहाँ मना है वहाँ आर्टिफ़िशियल मिठास, और भराव।
इस लिस्ट की कोई भी चीज़ पक्की लाल होती: ‘कभी-कभी ठीक है’ नहीं, बस मना है।

सलाह, क़ानून नहीं - भारत के राष्ट्रीय पोषण संस्थान से

Indian Council of Medical Research और National Institute of Nutrition यह प्रकाशित करते हैं कि रोज़ का समझदार खाना कैसा दिखता है। ये क़ानून नहीं, सलाह हैं, इसलिए इनसे निकली बात सामान्य ही रहती है: एक तथ्य जो हम आपके सामने रख देते हैं, नियम टूटने की बात कभी नहीं।

रोज़ के खाने में ऊपर से मिलाई गई चीनी, नमक और फ़ैट के लिए सलाह दी गई मात्रा।
मैदा, तली हुई चीज़ों और बहुत ज़्यादा प्रोसेस किए स्नैक्स पर सलाह।
ये बातें बताती हैं कि पैक में क्या है। ये कभी नहीं कहतीं कि वह बंद है।
