The short version: Laddoo tells you what is printed on a packet, as accurately as we can read it. It is a reference tool, not a medical service, and not a substitute for reading the label yourself.
What Laddoo is
A free, public record of what appears on Indian packaged food labels, built from photographs contributed by people who scan them, checked against published regulations and against the list of things you have told us to watch for.
What Laddoo is not
It is not a medical service and gives no medical advice. It carries no endorsement from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and nothing on this site should be read as an official determination.
It does not score, grade or rank foods, and it never will. It reports what the label says and what the rules say, and leaves the decision to you.
Accuracy, and its limits
Label data is read from photographs by software, corrected by people, and confirmed when independent scans agree. Every value on a product page carries a marker saying how well it is established. When a value has not been confirmed, the page says so.
When we cannot read something, we say we cannot read it. We never present an unread field as an absence. If the allergen line could not be read, the page will tell you not to rely on that scan - please do not.
A packet in your hand may differ from the record here. Formulations change, print runs differ, and the expiry date is specific to your packet. If the packet and this site disagree, the packet is the authority.
If you have an allergy
Read the packet. Laddoo is a second pair of eyes, not the first and not the last. We built the fail-closed behaviour precisely because software that guesses about allergens is worse than software that admits it does not know - but the final check is yours.
What you contribute
When you scan a product, you grant Laddoo a licence to use the photographs and the extracted data to build and publish the public record. You keep ownership of your photographs.
Contribute only photographs you took yourself, of packets you have. Do not upload anything else.
If you are a manufacturer
If a record about your product is wrong, raise a dispute and we will review it. While a disputed field is under review it is frozen against further automatic change. Being disputed does not by itself change what the page says - a correction does, and we make corrections when the evidence supports one.
